Being a kiwi (explaining the meanings)

 In the book that we have been reading at school we have been given 5 tasks to do with the book,the book is called being a kiwi and it is a book about child refugees that had to leave their country. 

One of the tasks on our task sheet tells us to write a blog about the words and what they mean for example in the book it says "you can't play with us Afghan biscuit" the meaning behind that was that the bully was saying a racist comment.

 Next word is to call New Zealand "home" the meaning behind this saying is "where you feel safe or where your family originated." Next saying is i understand how hard that must have been the meaning behind the sentence is to "understand what they have been through."

 Following sayings the next one is ideas of culture and belonging weren't something she gave much thought to the meaning behind this is that "she didn't think much of culture."

 coming up is what refugee means a refugee is "someone who had to leave their home or country because of something bad." Second to last is to have a different take on their new home the meaning for this sentence is "to feel different about their new home."

 The final saying is Content to say they have two homes the saying means that they "have a right to say they have two homes."
